Dating The Day After Halloween

Image via
Granted, Halloween was yesterday, but there’s still some Halloween fun to be had, especially if you’re in New York City. So, if you’re considering going on a date, why not incorporate some Halloween spunk? Whether you choose to rock your costume, a second costume, or no costume, there are plenty of options.

Do the traditional thing. Go to dinner, but opt for a place that turns from restaurant to lounge. This way you’ll have a shot of enjoying a Halloween party right after dinner. Miami Beach in Washington Heights is one option, but there are many restaurants that do the same.

Break tradition. Go bar-hopping with your new date. Start on Fulton in Manhattan and work your way down to various clubs. It’s near the East Village, so you know plenty of folks will still be out celebrating. Some bars even have Halloween parties after a certain hour.

Go on an unplanned adventure. Walk through Times Square or another major part of New York City and select the activity that arises, from an impromptu comedy show to all sources of entertainment.

Perhaps it’s time to let go of the same old date and experience something on the edgier side.

What dating ideas come to mind for the day after Halloween? Let us know below or send us a tweet @LatinTRENDS2010.

Mario Cimarro! “Yumm!”

Let me start by saying that this caption says it all about this piece. For those who have made it a ritual to watch their telenovelas on Telemundo or Univision, I am very sure you took part in the “Why can’t that be me?” envy with Mario Cimarro. Whether you were mesmerized by his tight abs in those steamy shower scenes, or his long wavy mane cascading in the wind while horse back riding or you were simply seduced by his sexy monotone voice when he is about to engage in a passionate love affair, those were heated moments you can’t even describe, and for print I’m keeping it PG, ok?

His roles in Pasión De Gavilanes, El Cuerpo del Deseo, and so many others may have been where I took notice of his physique, but this eye-candy actor was no stranger to the big screen. His initial debut was in “Romeo & Juliet” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. He appeared with Louis Gossett, Jr. Ok! He wasn’t the lead. But would you have noticed with our eyes focused on Leonardo?

In between prepping for his next telenovela series, Mario had a recurring role on the USA Network’s “Necessary Roughness.” He played the role of Augusto, a Spanish chef that returns incognito to team up with Dr. Dani, played by Callie Thorne.

“This is one of those times that the stories of real life outweigh the fiction ,” said Cimarro . “It’s a privilege.”

Most recently he was casted in the Lifetime murder-mystery movie “Beautiful & Twisted” with leading actress Paz Vega. and Hollywood actor, Rob Lowe. That goes to show, this Latin hottie with a body has proven to be a very versatile actor. Not all romance and roses. I just hope he’s shirtless! Yum!

Will Jaime Camil Be The Casanova of All Latino Dads on the WB??

Jaime Camil is a Mexican-Brazilian Heart-Throb best known for his role as a “Casanova” in telenovelas such as “La Fea Mas Bella” and “Qué Pobres tan Ricos” etc. Which is uncanny that in this comedic series “Jane The Virgin” the first scene has him on their TV screen in the similar role.

“Jane The Virgin” portrays the unexpected yet unusual situations that occur within the todays Latino family. How we have circumstances that arise where we tend to find solutions for without having all the facts. Kind of like assuming the answering in an algebra problem without knowing the “x” or the “y” in the problem. Then here comes “Super-Dad” attempting to save the day with less information then the rest. Merely fragments of sentences he hears walking down the hall or ease dropping on a phone call.

Jaime’s personality shines through every role he has ever played in sitcoms, films, and commercials. Is it his radiant smile and the twinkle in his eyes that make the fans fall in love with him?

Jaime’s Role as Rogelio in “Jane The Virgin” is more comedic then any series I’ve seen in a long time. His relationship with daughter Jane, played by Gina Rodriguez, reminds me so much of the typical Hispanic family. The dad that tries but doesn’t really know what he is doing. The women of the house giving him credit yet harmlessly chismosas poking fun with just a bit of sarcasm. I so relate lol…

“Rogelio” as the prince charming is what every little girl dreams of from hearing fairly tales or watching our telenovelas. His attempt of being a supportive dad with Jane is um ??? “Brownie point worthy!”

I’m looking forward to seeing all his wonderful dad moments and romantic rekindling with Jane’s mom. If I get anything out of watching this series, is that Jaime Camil would give me a great insight of what I would have to look forward to having a child with a telenovela star like Rogelio.

A Girl Can Dream, Can’t She?

4 Tips For Traveling As A Couple

(Image via

(Image via

One of the wonderful things about being in a relationship is that you have a companion with whom to plan trips with. If your goal is to travel, you have someone to do so with. Take advantage of this, and plan a vacation you’ll both remember. Here are a few tips to move your adventures along:

1. Decide on a time and location. If you both work, try to work around your schedule – even consider a holiday weekend trip. The second decision will be choosing a destination. What is most important to you? Are you willing to compromise? Don’t be afraid to take your time deciding as a team.

2. Budget. Calculate your income and your expenses. This will give you an idea as to when you can afford to take this trip.

3. Draft an itinerary. Don’t worry so much about setting things in stone, but do have an idea of what you’d like to do.

4. Agree to let your positive attitude accompany you everywhere! It is easy to let the potential stress of planning a trip get the best of you, but choose not to let this be the case. If you’re ever overwhelmed, take a breather and then return to the main purpose for planning this trip. This is a chance for the two of you to connect even further and fall even more in love. Moreover, it’s a chance to build unforgettable experiences.

Have you ever traveled with your significant other? What were some of the challenges you faced?

Love Advice: Questions about Love, Sex and Greeting Cards with Judy Torres

Judy Torres

Ask Judy

Q: What is the best advice you can give a young guy who wants to ask an older woman out on a date?
A: I can answer this question by experience. I am the older woman in my relationship. And we are now engaged to be married. As an older woman, I don’t think we are interested in age as much as we are interested in your confidence and your success in life. Success, ambition, confidence with a little humility is what is sexiest. So when approaching an older woman, be yourself. Take an honest interest in who she is. And don’t bother lying to us, because we can read bs right away. And please, NEVER say things like, “You know, for an older woman you really are beautiful.” Just make us feel desired and honest.

Q: E-Cards or Hallmark cards?
A: To me there simply is no real thought in an e-card. It’s digital, it’s downloaded and it’s downright cold and impersonal. I love the feeling of receiving a real card, reading the inscription or poem on the inside…seeing someone’s handwriting makes it all the more special. I’m not saying I’m right, but I’m not wrong, ha ha!!

Q: What is your go-to song when you want to get all romantic?
A: When I want to get all romantic my go-to songs are Tango by Lara Fabian, Jezebel by Sade or Europa by Santana! Yea, those are pretty sexy! I can’t choose just one!

Q: What is the best song to get it on to?
A: The best song to get it on to? A lady NEVER tells! Only my fiance knows!

Q: How can you tell if you’re really in love?
A: You can tell you are really in love when thinking of that person makes you all giddy inside; when you find yourself thinking of that person at the worst possible moments like when you get pulled over for running a red light. That person is your first thought when you wake and your last thought before you sleep. You are in love when the thought of that person not being in your life brings you to tears.

Q: Sex in public places, yes or no?
A: Sex in public places? Si, si, si – if you are ready to risk being arrested, and as long as the public place is not inappropriate – like a school for example. You don’t want to get caught by children. Sex on a beach, for instance, can be tempting and exciting. Not that I would know. I only heard from others!

Q: Dating a co-worker. A do or a don’t?
A: Dating a co-worker is too risque! You spend the majority of your day at work. If you date a co-worker and it doesn’t work out, the workplace can become a very uncomfortable place and your performance could suffer. Worse than that, there’s gonna be lots of bochinche if he/she turns out to be a bad person.

Q: Sexting. Si, si, si or No, no, no?
A: Sexting?! NO! Once you type those sexy and erotic words and press “send,” your words are out there forever. Later on, if it doesn’t work out, that person could use your own words against you. But…if you are certain your texts will be private and if it is for your spouse’s eyes only and you know no one will see it go for it.

Q: Best love advice you’ve gotten from your parents?
A: The best advice my mother gave me about love was that love does not hurt. It should make you feel good, it should lift you up and it should NEVER put you down. And her words have helped me out of very unhealthy situations quickly!

Love Advice: Band on the Run

Judy Torres

Ask Judy

Dear Judy:

About nine weeks ago I gave my card to a guy who plays in a band and told him to call me so we can go out for drinks. He gave me his card with his cell phone number. I called him a few days later to tell him that I enjoyed the show and that I hope that we could get together soon. He said that he would try to arrange something so that we could.

Well, about 4 weeks went by without hearing from him, until I saw his band again. He remembered my name when he saw me, and we went and had drinks after the show with a few other people. I had a great time and enjoyed his company very much.

I am VERYattracted to this man (he is 49, I’m 37). That night he walked me to my car and said that he would like to get together with me next week so we can be alone. We then exchanged some passionate kisses!

I called him the following week because I was anxious to see him, and of course, he said that he couldn’t come out, he was really busy, he really appreciated me asking him out, but maybe some other time!!

I was crushed!! That was about 4 weeks ago and I haven’t heard from him since. What I’d like to know is if he is really interested in me, and if he isn’t, why didn’t he just say so?

Hit and Run Flirt in Holbrook

Dear Hit and Run Flirt,

I am going to begin here with a lesson on particular types of men to avoid. There are many different types of men that women should generally stay away from. One of them is the Superstar. Many musicians fall into this category as well as politicians, actors and the rich and powerful. A man that falls into this category is not suitable for the successful and fulfilling relationship that you may desire and hope for.

The Superstar sets his eyes a little too high in the sky. His thoughts are overwhelmed with popularity, money, power, materialistic assets, privileges, fans and other pretentious vanities. He only cares about his achievements and it is this particular frame of mind which completely obscures any thought of true romance in his head.

With the Superstar you will constantly have to fight for his attention between the numerous “business calls” on his cell, his late nights and disappearing acts. The Superstar generally only cares about himself and how he looks therefore your feelings are never taken into consideration.

Along with his visions of grandeur comes the inevitable foe to the supporting woman underneath the Superstar’s wings: more women. They may never say it, but every man in some sort of power knows that what comes along with his rise to fame is lots of beautiful, sexy, young and “ready for action” women. There are plenty of groupie-type women out there whose sole purpose in life seems to revolve around having sex with Superstars. And most Superstars look forward to this little perk. Hey, this is the real world baby.

Your guy seems to fit the Superstar profile quite well. When you are there at a bar supporting his playtime on stage you are convenient to him. You have become what he expects: another woman to support him, give him the attention he craves and screw around with at that time. Trust me, you are not the only one out there. There would have already been dates made if he was really thinking about you. Setting a “date” is not convenient to him. He wants YOU to be there for HIM because he is a Superstar. A date would mean that he actually has to be there for you. He is not thinking about that at all.

Don’t give this tonto another thought! He is one of the men you certainly need to avoid. Even if you did manage to have some sort of half-hearted relationship with him you would end up being miserable. He would rarely be there for you and there would most undoubtedly be other women in his life. Here is another take on the situation: He is 49 and in a band. Um, yeah, that is all I am going to say about that.

Romantic Hairstyles for Valentine’s Day

If you think that you won’t have enough time to go to the hair salon before your Valentine’s Day date- do not worry! Here we share two romantic, quick and easy, trending hairstyles from Sebastian Scolarici, hair stylist at Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon.

For a romantic date with your other half, Sebastian recommends to keep it simple and make sure your hair stays soft and shiny. Your hair should want to make others want to touch it and feel it. “I recommend limiting the number of products used as they may harden your hair” says Scolarici.

Below see steps for two sexy, romantic, and easy hairdos:

1ST Look – Sexy Hair with a Simple Ponytail

1. Start with using John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow Out Spray at the roots and tips of wet hair.

2. Next, apply John Frieda Frizz-Ease Expert Finish Polishing Serum, to leave hair smooth, shiny, and frizz free for the entire date!

3. Blow dry your hair, leaving lots of volume and not worrying about perfecting it.

4. Next, with a comb tease hair to add more volume and texture and collect it into a low ponytail with an elastic tie. You can part your hair in the middle or to the side, depending on how you prefer.

5. Hide the hair tie by wrapping a little bit of your hair around it.

6. Finish by spraying just a little of John Frieda Frizz Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hair Spray to seal out moisture and support style.

2nd Look – Romantic Loose Waves

1. Start with a good base for shine and volume by shampooing and conditioning with John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Shampoo and Conditioner.

2. Spray John Frieda Frizz Ease Go Curlier Heat-Activated Spray to enhance curls. Then, tilt your head and blow dry hair upside down so your roots dry upwards. This is meant to create natural volume.

3. Next, with a one-inch hair clip, start separating sections and with a one-inch barrel curling iron start curling your hair. For softer yet long lasting curls, wind sections of hair around your fingers and, using bobby pins, hold the hair and pin each section to your head.

4. Once finished with all sections, let your hair sit with the bobby pins for a few minutes.

5. Lastly, brush your hair out with a flat hair brush and gently spray a little bit of John Frieda Frizz Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hair Spray to maintain your style.
