The eighteenth season of “The Bachelor” premiered on ABC tonight. This season marks the first time that a Latino was chosen to star alongside the 27 female contestants competing for his heart.
Juan Pablo Galavis, 32, is a former soccer player who some may remember as a contestant on “The Bachelorette” in May 2013, but was ultimately eliminated by bachelorette Desiree Hartsock. However, Galavis became a fan-favorite and was eventually brought back to star in his own season of “The Bachelor.”
This first part of a two-part premiere gave us a glimpse into the life of Galavis and the wildly romantic destinations the show will visit this season. Galavis, who has a young daughter, Camila, is not only looking for a wife, but someone who will be a good stepmother. The episode also paid tribute to season fourteen’s Gia Allemand, who died in August 2013.
Part two of the premiere will air Monday, Jan. 6 on ABC at 8 PM EST.
