The 46-year-old actor has been in such films, apart from the street-racing franchise, like The Chronicles of Riddick and xXx which have warranted the action star the coveted plaque.
Yesterday, the Fast and Furious star received the honorable recognition becoming the 2,504th star to receive a star on the Walk of Fame along Hollywood Boulevard. At the event Diesel was supported by his family and several co-stars.
Fellow Fast and Furious co-stars Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster along with Riddick co-star Kate Sackhoff were among guests to watch Diesel immortalize his hands on the boulevard.
Michelle Rodriguez was quoted saying, “I love Vin Diesel. On top of just being one of my best friends…man dares to dream when people forget to dream. This guy, he looks at the impossible and says, ‘When do we start?’” Rodriguez and Diesel retained a strong friendship after the two brief dated back 2001 after meeting on the set of Fast and Furious.
At the ceremony Diesel showed another side rarely seen by most. Primarily known for his tough exterior, before a crowd of photographers Diesel showed his softer side as family man.
During the honorable occasion, Diesel made a rare appearance by posing publically with his family. At his side was his model-girlfriend Paloma Jimenez along with their two children, daughter Haina Riley, aged 5, and son Vincent, aged 3.
“I didn’t want cameras around this event,” explained Diesel, during an interview with Good Morning America concerning the reason why he chose not to publically announce he was an expecting and then an official father when his children were born. “I wanted this to be as natural as possible.”
While choosing to keep his life as an actor and father separate, the seemingly protective father has become more open about his being a father. Before yesterday’s ceremony, Diesel introduced his children publically on The Tonight Show.
The native New Yorker can be seen in the third installment of The Chronicles of Riddick series on September 4th when Riddick is released in cinemas.
