Brazilian actress Fernanda Andrade, who stars in the latest box office breaker, “The Devil Inside”, reveals that the production introduced her to horror films.
The star, who plays an Italian woman aiming to find out what happened to her mother, witnesses exorcisms and possessions in her quest. The experience was overall eye-opening to the actress, who remained generally unexposed to the horror genre. In a recent interview, she stated, “[My mom] didn’t like us watching scary movies, so it was one of those things that I didn’t really know about until I got involved in this movie.”
Andrade went on to comment on her own belief of exorcisms. She stated, “I think it’s undeniable that every religion that exists has some sort of exorcism in it, and the more I read about it—I don’t know that I have an answer, but I really feel like it’s whatever you think it is; it’s kind of a testament to the human psyche really.”
“The Devil Inside” had a record breaking opening weekend box office revenue of $34.5 million, making it the biggest opening of all time during early January according to “The Hollywood Reporter”. The film, which is based on a true story, is showing in theaters.
