Over time, major biopics have been produced for the greatest figures in history, including those who touched the lives of millions through their musical work. Jenni Rivera, with her long career managed to amass countless fans, selling as many records as concert tickets; now it’s her turn to shine on the big screen, as Jenni Rivera, finally gets her biopic, starring Annie Gonzalez, who will play Rivera. This is a movie that many Rivera fans have been waiting for.
Through the Los Angeles Times in Spanish, ViX announces the development of a biopic for Jenni, revealing the name of the actress that will play her. What better time to announce this, then March, which is Women’s international month.
It is confirmed that a film production based on the life of Jenni Rivera is already in production. Annie Gonzalez, who has worked on Gentefied and Flamin Hot, will be the main star (and playing Rivera) and one of the executive producers.
The film will be released exclusively on the ViX platform and Jenni’s own family is involved in the colossal task; Jacqie Rivera, daughter of the singer and CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises (one of the production companies), shared her excitement about the film:
My brothers and I are very excited for this film. We know that our mother’s story will impact generations to come.
It has been a difficult task, but we are happy to see one of our mother’s dreams come true. Although we still haven’t gotten used to seeing someone play our mother, we have faith that Annie will do a great job.
Jenni Rivera recorded more than fifteen studio albums, she also released compilations, deluxe versions and live albums. In addition to her career in music, Rivera has also participated in various soap operas and reality television shows.
She also founded her own music company and a non-profit organization to help women and single mothers. He was able to become a much loved and respected figure in the Latino community in the United States (he was born in California) and in Mexico, with a legacy that lives on in music and in the memory of his fans.
Jenni died in a plane crash on December 9, 2012. The plane she was traveling in crashed in a mountainous area in Nuevo León, Mexico, while she was returning to the city of Toluca after giving a concert in the city of Monterrey.
The aircraft was a twin-engine Learjet 25 that crashed about 10 minutes after takeoff. Six other people also died in the accident, including the two pilots, the artist’s publicist and some of the singer’s friends and collaborators.
